As you can see, we’re across the Country and boy do our staff know of some great places in their local areas for food and drinks. Celebrate summer 2023 with some of the best beverages and “munchies” based on their feedback.

Below is our staff’s guide to some of their favorite places to eat/drink and what their favourite menu items are.

My favourite thing to do while driving past Trenton is passing by The Big Apple, which is in Coburg, Ontario. They have the best apple pie and apple crumble I have ever had with ice cream”. – Glen C.

It is hard to pinpoint just one restaurant or place to eat, with Kingston having the most restaurants per capita than almost any other place in Canada. If you’re munchies are craving a good ole’ fashion burger, I highly recommend the food truck Lotzah! located in the parking lot of Spearhead Brewery. They serve up great smash burgers and have different menu items like loaded potato sticks and inverted grilled cheese. You can enjoy the patio at Spearhead with a fresh pint as well.  If you’re looking for more of a formal setting, I recommend Baja Craft Kitchen. The vibe they go for is the “relaxed coastal setting of Baja California”. The Quesabirria taco with Birria broth on the side to drink is my go-to. I also like that they try to source their ingredients from local providers when they can. The Mezcal selection is also on point!  These are just some of my munchie spots around our great city. We also have some killer patios around the downtown core.” – Macie C.

“I spend A LOT of time on the highway between Trenton, Ontario and Halifax, Nova Scotia – these are my go-to places along the way! In Trenton/Belleville, Burger Revolution. My go-to is the Bohemian Burger it has in-house made ground beef, Homemade Peanut Butter, Bacon, Cheddar (Empire Cheese, Campbellford, ON), Lettuce, and condiments of choice – I always add “Chairman Mayo” to add a kick. Wannamakers Bake Shop. “If You want a doughnut with maple and bacon, or a cinnamon roll bigger than your head – this is the place to go. For the best chocolate cake of your life, you want to hit up The Silver Fox in Salisbury, New Brunswick. The Chocolate Cake with boiled icing is life-changing. For under $5.00 a slice. For a meal, I highly recommend the Hungry Man Poutine adding fried ground beef and onions.” – Margot B.

Jonesies Takeout in Pennfield, New Brunswick! The Nick Jones Mozzarella Stick Burger is amazing! They have specialty milkshakes too with homemade sweets on top.” – Vanessa H.

“I am such a foodie, but when my munchies kick in, it’s all about sweets for me. When traveling, I always seem to come across a Beavertail food truck. Bananarama is my fav, but there are many to choose from. Last but certainly not least, if you ever visit Canada’s Wonderland, you MUST try a funnel cake.” – Amanda D.

“I second Amanda with Beavertails. In the summertime, the truck is right around the corner from me at the Civic Center in Petawawa, Ontario all season long (so much for the waistline!) and in the winter on the Rideau Canal when open. My two faves are the Classic and Apple Pie!!” – Angela M.

Hungry yet?

“My summer go-to would have to be a lobster roll and fries from Richard’s in Covehead, PEI, and a Messie Bessie ice cream from Cow’s!” – Danielle D.

“My absolute favourite place to eat is a little outside Ottawa in Ingleside, Ontario called Sol De Acapulco Restaurante. It’s the most amazing authentic Mexican food. My Favourite item on the menu is Tacos Dorados. Everything is homemade and fresh!” – Madison P.

“I like to hit up Berg’s Famous Ice Cream in Conception Bay, Newfoundland for their iceberg of the month. Always easy to try new things when it comes to ice cream!” – Matthew B.

“If you are a pizza lover like me and test a pizza place everywhere you go you will know that some of the best pizza is at Pizza Corner in Halifax downtown. My favourite is the works but there isn’t a single slice I will not eat.” – Jessica D.

“Sticky Buns at Kelly’s Bake Shop in Alma New Brunswick”. – Kerri C.

“For me, my “munchie” place is Booster Juice,  Bananas-a-Whey smoothy”. – Jennifer C.

“I would say clams & chips from Jim’s Family Restaurant in Bedford, Nova Scotia”. – Ahmed M.

“The best donair and steak subs is at Wright’s Bakery in Salisbury, New Brunswick” – Brittney J.

“I have a bias but St. Louis bar & Grill has a Buffalo Chicken poutine that is an absolute must-try.” – Neil A.

Hopefully along your travels this Summer you’ll find some new favourites that will hit the spot just right. Don’t worry calories don’t count on vacation.
